Competition time! If anyone can work out what the heck we are going to do with the side of our house and our existing garage space then feel free to email me, text or comment on this post, We are thinking a mini football pitch/tennis court or an outdoor seating area with fire pit, patio heaters and a bar.

Need to wait for tomorrow folks sorry! (ok so it took slightly longer than I had hoped).
Another busy week - Uni assignment due, full panic mode, parents evening, after school meetings and Gran Hilary staying whilst Katie flies to London for work overnight.
Lasts week was Grandad's birthday - so he came over for dinner with ice cream to finish - Lauchlan liked to steal Grandad's ice cream,
The outside of the house at the front is now looking bright and new - unfortunately the builders drive a dumper into the side of the house and damaged the new render - oh, well - I am sure it will be fixed at some point.

sometimes you wonder how long things take
Like everyone in the house feeling 100% well again which seems to taken forever - it has been a really strange 6 weeks with tummy bugs and colds and general fatigue - if this is what Brexit has in store let's cancel it now. ;o) Anyway - we don't dwell on the serious stuff on the blog - this is all the positive news and positive news only.
First of all the building work - the render is now finished and we have a nice smooth white building that is a wee bit different to what we started with.
The proper building work should get started next week hopefully when the scaffolding goes and the diggers arrive.
Even though we don't feel so well we went out on a sunny cold day and did some climbing.
And when we got home we had a wee friend around for dinner at the wee table - it was a tapas style arrangement - just help yourselves.
Dad got ripped off again by the Tesco Thomas the Tank Engine - 3 rides for a £ it says - you get a minute of the theme tune and a wee shoogle and then nothing. If I ever find that Fat Controller he will get an earful let me tell you.
We then went for a play in the toon centre - Sophie offered Lauchlan a wee pillion position on her bike.
We played a wee game of Pictionary - anyone able to guess what this is?
It's a caravan being pulled by a car of course!
And that's it for this week - Daddy has an assignment due for University and a ton of work to do - and we are almost at Christmas - heavens alive! Busy times indeed.

Halloween!
First the learning journals this week........
Let's go back to last week when i missed on out doing the blog because I was so ill I couldn't go to work for three days! Another bout of stomach bug along with something else just completely floored me.
Our dear friend Shona (who looked after us so well in New Zealand) was back over to see her family with her new wee baby - her and Steve now have three!!! Great to see her as always and she hasn't changed one bit.
Work continues on our house......well, kind of.......it's been a bit stop start so far but the roof is now finished. Next on the agenda - re-render the house. We are going to end up with a nice flatly smooth art deco house and return it to former glories. Former glories however are much more expensive today one thinks than 1938. Once that is complete the ground work will begin but by that time we will be halfway through November.
With our kitchen imminently changing for the better we seem to be spending some more time there these days. even reading some stories.
It looks very much like teachers might be striking again some time soon - an estimated 20-30,000 people marched to George Square to protest that the pay offer made by the Government is derisory given that salaries have effectively dropped 25% (due to the effects of austerity) The other element of this however is the overwhelmingly workload that just seems to increase year on year - not a career for the faint hearted,
We were a bit all over the place the last few weeks with us all being ill at some point - with me starting to get ill again we had a funny old day hanging about the house - I decided to create indoor washing lines that seemed to go down well.
And we played up in what is now Sophie AND Lauchlan's room - this has had mixed success if we are being honest.
Then it was time for Halloween - we had two costumes on this day one for nursery and one for guising.
Once nursery was out of the way it was time to go guising with our pals in the street - of which we have many!
Sophie's party piece was Twinkle Twinkle - simple but expertly delivered. Lauchlan went for Baa baa black sheep and A, B, C, D - it was awesome. A great time was had by all until we tried to get them to go to bed, there are not photographs of how great that was.
This weekend I have been feeling considerably better but still not perfect - I took the kids out for a Sunday morning to another park not a million miles away. We had some good times then came home , did some baking and went for a swim. All good and fingers crossed we are all done with the sickness for a good period of time.
