Summer has arrived

So summer is finally here but it's so hot it's making us all a bit sleepy - as I write Katie and Sophie are asleep over on the other couch (I've only just woken up).

Gran was up to visit again this week
We were at the Doctors today and Sophie had her 6 week checks (albeit a week later than usual) She passed with flying colours and it turns out she has grown another 2cm in length this week and has now ballooned to 11lbs 14oz - a very healthy and rapid weight gain.

We've had another busy week ourselves, a long trip down to Campbeltown was a real test - would Sophie sleep? Or wouldn't she? Turns out she slept almost all the way on the way down and then almost all the way home on the way home. A great performance and as great at seeping while Dad's driving as her Mum is.

"Ready for the drive to Campbeltown - 3 hours, you kidding me?!"
"I'm away to sleep then"
Can you spot the 3 heavy sleepers at Gran's house?

playtime with Gran
"bathtime - i don't look excited but I am!"
We did a lot of visiting whilst down in Kintyre - we saw Great Uncle Bruce, Great Aunt Isobel and Great Great Aunt Margaret.

And then it was a long journey back up the road - via a wee pit stop in Tarbert

This Iso Fix isn't working the way I thought.
Once we got home it was all about chilling out and thinking ahead to our Commonwealth Games plans.

"This Baby bouncer is great for sleeping in as well"
"Only joking Mum, I want fed instead"
"Yawn"
We also went over to Gran and Grandads for a wee party for Aunt Jean who turned 65, a great wee family day and as usual my Mum went above and beyond with her efforts.

World Cup

Auntie Nicole and Uncle Paul bought Sophie a Belgium sleepsuit for the World Cup - it wasn't to be Belgium's year but our support lasted until the quarter finals. Maybe next time - or perhaps well get to support Scotland instead? ;o)

Archie's Wedding

Here I am at 1 week old
The three of us have been to Archie and Susan's Wedding this weekend - our friends Noan and David let us stay at their house in North Queensferry which broke the journey up and made St. Andrews more commutable on the day of the Wedding itself.

Archie and Susan didn't want any photos and stuff on social media but we're sure it's ok to publish photos of ourselves and Sophie.

One of the great things about the Wedding was that Archie and Susan had asked Pat Heppell the Humanist who led our Wedding last year to conduct their ceremony - so Pat got a nice surprise when we turned up with baby Sophie!

Pat and all of us - what a quick year.
We also got the chance at the Wedding to catch up Dave and Briony who we haven't seen in a while.

There was a Cleland in our midst as well - Iain's sister Gayle.

Dave tried and failed to fit into Sophie's hat
Auntie Clare was also on hand to give Sophie some big cuddles and give Katie and I a chance to mingle.

Sophie is really enjoying the over the shoulder look this season - generally Mum's shoulder is the favourite.

Sophie had quite a busy day - a drive from Queensferry to St. Andrews - a full day of being passed around, fed and changed that didn't end until we arrived back at Noan's at 10.30pm.

What a busy day!
The poor wee thing slept til 6am and then we all went back to sleep after a wee feed. Today has been a bit of a write off but we're recharging our batteries for our next big trip which will be down to see Gran (Hilary).

wonky photos

I've been looking through previous blog posts and it looks like some photos have decided to do a wobbler and move around slightly - may be something to do with the new template so please bare with me!

When Sophie met Finlay again

Sophie and Finlay caught up again this week - this is the only photo I have to hand but definitely shows a size difference between 5 and 15 weeks. A pair of cuties.

Experimental photos

Hi folks, some experimental photos from today - all was going well until the inevitable nappy-less toilet disaster!

I've not had much practice with my camera and flashguns recently but as time goes by it will all come flooding back I hope.

Apologies to anyone who finds baby nudity offensive - and apologies to Sophie in advance for any future embarrassment caused!

Posts

Hi everyone - a lack of photos this week for a variety of reasons but we are all still all doing very well - Sophie has been out lots this week, she has been smiling and she is now gooing and gaa-ing. A very clever wee girl.

We should have lots of photos next week as we have a few events coming up this weekend and into the middle of next week. Lots more visits and adventures for us and lots of photo opportunities.

Check back soon!

More visits ;o)

In my last post I said we had been really busy with visitors and getting ourselves out and about - well, the week continued to be busy with some more visitors and some trips to Katie's work and various other places.

We had visits from Katie's neices and nephew along with Katie's brother, Sophie's Uncle David. Kate and Davie from Katie's work also paid us a visit.

Sophie continues to do really well and loves having so many visitors - we're very lucky to have such good friends and family. We're also very fortunate to have such a fit, happy and healthy wee girl.

Katie and I also managed to spend a wee afternoon up at the cross - we visited the Doctors and then went to a wee cafe. Unfortunately I couldn't get any cake so waited until we came home and I ate a piece of special needs cake.

Can't believe it has only been 4 weeks!

We've had a week of firsts - my first week off school, our first trip to Brahead, our first trip into town and our first party (Uncle Paul's)

Some trips have been more successful than others but things have ben generally very good. We are still piling on the pounds and we are still beautiful. I must add here though that Katie is doing amazingly well - if there was a medal for being a Mum then she would definitely be in the running. Katie has been absolutely amazing xxxx

On a side note, I went to Morrisons the other day and picked up a bottle of beer to look at the label - I ended up with a cut on my hand cos a bit of the bottle was sticking out. I told the guy in the aisle and he offered me a plaster and I said no, don't worry about it.  I kept going with the shop until I realised 25 minutes later I was still bleeding - so I thought, "hey, what if I get an infection or something" and "hey- maybe i could get a discount on my shop" :o)

Anyway, to cut a very long story short - after speaking to 4 members of staff I had to ask for an apology and I also had to demand they filled in a Riddor form so that they had a record of the event (should I die on the way home ;o) For the record, no discount was forthcoming.........

We had a trip to Braehead this week and have begun to realise just why people with babies like places like Braehead so much. The baby change area is REALLY nice - it's like a private members club. Great.

It was Uncle Paul's birthday this week (and Auntie Karen's) and we all went over to Paul's for a wee party - Auntie Nicole's brother Eric was in town and Nicole prepared lots of great wee snacks including some very nice GF cookies.

oh, I've had a busy old day again...
Another day out - off to the big city
