Sophie's first gluten adventure

Sophie has had a busy week of experimenting with solids - she's had sweet potato, broccoli, carrots, apple, pear, plum, cheese, chicken and of course as you have seen, a very small bit of a gluten free fish supper.
As a coeliac the advice I have been given is that there is no reason to avoid giving Sophie gluten but the rule of thumb for all babies is no gluten for the first 6 months which we have stuck to.
So as part of her new adventures with food Sophie was given bread and she absolutely loved it - leaving poor me as the only gluten free member of the household :o(
In other news Sophie went for a weigh in today and is now 18.5 pounds which is less than I thought she would be however if you are counting percentiles she is on the 91st percentile. What this means is that of all babies her age, if you lined up 100 of them from lightest to largest she would be 91st in line. She is the same percentile for height.
The midwife told Katie today that she should be able to predict sophie's future height and stated that according to the charts it would be "somewhere between 5ft6 and 5ft8." Katie laughed and so did I when I heard. Our prediction is somewhere over katie's height of 5ft9.
Hope you like the photos.

The Broons all get the cold and eat some fish and chips.

I have finally managed to work out the conversion for videos - turns out it was easy, I just had to find 5 minutes to do it.

These two videos are of a wee girl who has had a hellish few days, nose and eyes streaming, a wheezy cough, not much sleep and not much food. But, she's been a wee star and just kept right on smiling.

Dad had another busy week and Katie and Sophie were both loaded with the cold, so this weekend we were lying very low indeed although we felt that Sophie needed to get out and about for a good long sleep in the car so we took her to the Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum where Steph was able to get a gluten free fish supper (they are the best). And at £9.25 each they should be good.

We also continued Sophie's wee adventures with solid food and she had a very little bit of fish, a little bit of mashed up chip and some mushy peas. She loved it. She also had a good sook on Dad's pickled onion.
"Have i to eat ALL of this?"
"I'll just go one chip at a time"
"What on earth is this?"

When we got home Sophie was still really snotty and tired so we got her ready for bed and read her some stories.

As I write she is sleeping away soundly on her back for the first night since Tuesday - every other night she has been on her side. And most nights since Thursday she has ended up in the bed with Mum.

"A duvet day for Sophie and Mummy"
Sophie is 6 months old on Tuesday and we cannot believe how fast the time has gone.....she now has 2 teeth at the front on the bottom set.

Apart from the illnesses and hospital visits we have loved every single second of it and we hope you have been enjoying sharing it with us too.

To finish, here's a photo I missed out from the post about Grandad's birthday party - with Uncle Paul and Auntie Nicole.

Sophie has a cold

Sophie has a terrible wee cold - streaming nose, cough and temperature. Poor wee thing. She's even been napping in our bed so we can keep an eye on her.

Tuesday night post

I was just discussing with my Dad tonight how Sundays now seem to be the default night for blogging - so I thought I would mix things up a bit with a Tuesday night post. Well, photos at least......

"ooh, what's this?"

Grandad's birthday and a change to the plans on Sunday.

Family selfie on the floor
It was Grandad's birthday on Saturday and we paid him a wee visit (his first birthday as a Grandad by the way). Sophie tried to steal his nose and his glasses but he was too quick for her.
"Almost - I'll get them next time."
"Happy Birthday Grandad x"
The plan on Sunday was for Dad to be out in Edinburgh at a rugby thing but due to unforseen circumstances it was decided that he should take the day off and look after the girls - he has had an awful lot of late nights lately and he's out again working late this week. In the end it was the best for everyone.

We went for the longest walk ever, saw Darius fae off the telly, visited a new cafe in the town and even caught some live music before getting a takeway to bring home for dinner.

Sophie also received a very nice letter from Santa Claus which I have photographed and added to the blog. She's starting to get very excited about Christmas - either that or it is just the solids to blame for the extra movements.

Thought would finish with a couple of extra shots from the week - she is getting so big so fast but remains, cute, funny and beautiful all at the same time, quite a skill.

And in a final piece of "breaking news", it was discovered today that Sophie has a wee tooth peeking through on her lower gums. She'll be ripping her toys apart in no time I am sure. Pics to follow and toothwatch progress updates when we get a chance.

Getting close to Christmas and almost 6 months old.

Sophie has been having another great week with lots of visitors and lots of playtime. She had a weigh in this week and is sitting at just under 18lbs.

Ewen, Niamh, Emily and Andrea paid us a visit last weekend and gave Sophie lots of cuddles. Niamh turned 5 this week - Happy Birthday Niamh!

Sophie continues to grow rapidly out of her clothes and looks like she has taken another stretch over the last 7 days. We went out to look for new flooring at the weekend and stopped in for a bite to eat, Sophie happily sat at the table and watched all the action.

Gran and Grandad were over again this week - Grandad helped Dad get a fireplace out of the dining room and Gran read Sophie her favourite book.

Sophie continues to take life in her stride and this is definitely her favourite sleeping position - when she's like this she is out for hours. She has also taken to rolling around in her bed, sleeping on her front and side sometimes. At night she sleeps in a wee grobag/sleeping bag - which is great because it means she doesn't kick off the covers.

Here is another sleeping photo - this time she's on her side clinging onto Sophie the giraffe.
