Has it been a week already?

Wow - that was a fast week!

The girls were down in Campbeltown spending time with Sophie's Gran - I was stuck in Glasgow working (including a parents night) and then in the other evenings working in Edinburgh (and Saturday morning). Pretty hectic but will be worth it when the money bounces into the bank account.

Anyway - the girls came back last night having had a great time but because I was working last night and then this morning I saw them for the first time this afternoon.

Katie's now off for a well earned proper girls night out - her first since before a wee Sophie was still in the very first stages of developing.

It's a quick post this week and I have some of the photos from Katie's phone here but i am sure I will get others tomorrow that I will be able to post. For now here's what I have from the Campbeltown trip.

Playing peekaboo
Fun with Gran at softplay

Dinner at Gran's.

Dad's been working late!

This week I have been working four out of five evenings - most of them through in Edinburgh and due to closures of the M8 have generally been getting back at 10pm when the girls are away to bed.

I am doing the same again this week and sometime ago we decided that it would be a great idea for the girls to go and visit Gran in Campbeltown this week. So today they packed all their stuff and headed on the long drive down the road - I'll really miss them both but i wouldn't have seen them much this week anyway, and I am happier that they are having a good time with Gran.

Before the girls went we decided to have a wee Saturday day out, here are some of the photos.

We went to get Dad's hair cut, went to the post office then we went to the wee bakers shop at the cross.

Then we went for a wee walk and ended up in the library.

"How many books am I allowed?"
Then we went home for lunch and for a play in the house.

Driving around the house in an empty box
Well the girls will be taking plenty of photos and we will post them next week when they get back.

I should have mentioned that Sophie also got to try her first ever soft play this week with her wee pals. She had a great time as usual.

A weekend to enjoy.

After feeling ill for almost two weeks it was good to feel kind of normal this weekend and get back to spending some great time with the family.

It was Valentine's day on Saturday and Sophie made me a card which was really nice - I believe some other special folk got one too.

On Sunday we decided to get active so I took Sophie out for an hour in the morning for a walk/sleep. Then after lunch we got ourselves ready and dusted down the backpack to use for the first time - we were off to the local park!

We all had a great time and down the park Sophie was also able to indulge in one of her favourite pastimes at the moment - watching the birds.

So this week I am working every night and won't get to see the girls much which is a shame - I am also working every night next week too so Mummy and Sophie are taking a trip down Kintyre to see Gran.

So Sophie and I had some fun tonight before we went to bed - here is Sophie taking a quick selfie with my phone (whilst I photo bombed her)

Sophie can now reach the tv

Unfortunately becoming more mobile is going to cause us some problems - the time has come to baby proof the house and not leave her for a second.

Sophie loves the guitar

Sophie really likes touching and making noise with my guitar which is fine by me - my guitar isn't going to get broken by her yet and she always smiles when she hears it. Here she is practicing when I am not at home!

This week Daddy's been ill.

Most weeks I am writing about a new cold for Sophie, or Sophie's teething etc - well this week it's Daddy that's been unwell.

Wilderness outside
I HATE being ill and I almost hate taking time off work even more - it's been a busy January with jobs and I started my other new job at work this week which led to long hours, early starts and working at home. All of which had two outcomes - Katie and Sophie had to spend more time together (with Mummy doing a lot of night shifts) and Daddy getting a really bad cough, a fever and generally feeling ill. So ill in fact he had to take Friday off work - bummer.

Anyway - life goes on and Sophie certainly hasn't missed a beat - in fact her and Mummy have been having an amazing time together and it's actually really nice to see their relationship grow even closer still. The more Sophie can communicate the more you can see the love she has for her Mum - lovely to see.

Sophie and Mummy have been busy visiting lots of people again this week and Sophie has been sleeping long hours although she's still waking Mummy up with a squeal now and again so it's still tiring. But for now, most nights she doesn't need fed until the morning which is great.

This weekend is a long weekend for me and I don't go back to work until Wednesday - so a few jobs are on the list to get done if I am feeling better. We had planned to maybe go away but the one thing we really wanted to do was feel more settled and visit friends and family.

First on the list were Paul and Nicole - the Wedding is now only a couple of months away so it was great to get a catch up. We went for a long walk and for some lunch - a lovely time (photo to follow).

Next up were Ewen and Andrea, Emily and Niamh. We went to see them and they gladly took Sophie out for her first shot on a swing.

Sophie has also been getting some singing practice in the evenings - she has started to show a real interest in music and she loves the guitar. Thankfully that means that I for now have an audience on tap, even if I am not playing Wheels on the Bus.

So that's about it for now - this post has taken me a lot longer to put together than planned what with uploading the videos. Hopefully they have worked and you've all liked them.

Hopefully there will be more photos from the rest of this weekend to post but for now this is Sophie playing peekaboo with Mummy this week

An incredibly fast week

It's been a quick week this week and there haven't been too many photos to share I'm afraid.

Highlights of the week?

Sophie can now get herself to a seated position from lying down all by herself.

Gran, Great Auntie Jean and Auntie Karen came to babysit all day Saturday which allowed Katie and I to get out and do a few jobs, go for a nice lunch and then go to the movies!

Sophie has also got some new teeth - her top two have finally started to poke through - hopefully that will be the start of a wee bit of relief for Sophie and her sore mouth. She's not been sleeping especially well this week due to a combination of a cold and teething.

All in all a very very tiring time....
