A full month of Giftmas!

Would it be a blog post if I didn't mention it being a quick week, Sophie teething or Katie and I not sleeping very well (or Katie having it particularly hard as Sophie is always shouting for her)? Probably not, but I won't bother even mentioning them.

This week Sophie has had great fun at nursery and spending time with Gran and Grandad, She has also seen Uncle Paul three days in a row - Friday night, Saturday afternoon babysitting with Auntie Nicole and then Sunday afternoon over at Grandad's to celebrate his birthday.

It really is amazing how she treats my Brother - it is really as if she knows he is such a close relation. Children are apparently really good at reading faces and hearing sounds so maybe she hears/sees something that gives it away but she shouts for Paul constantly these days and is 100% relaxed in his company. (she is pretty relaxed in most peoples company but Paul in particular).

Anyway, as part of the babysitting Paul and Nicole did some great arts and crafts with Sophie - she loved the painting. Here is her masterpiece.

(photo to follow)

Sophie is also getting geared up for Christmas - we have decided to go a bit mad and instead of giving her lots of gifts on Christmas Day we are going to try and spread a lot of them out.

This isn't a present for her but she did enjoy playing with the cardboard box left over after I built an office chair from a well known self assembly furniture store. It was a car and then it was decided that it could be a bed.

We also bought Sophie a table and chairs so she could do some play sitting down, and entertain some friends - here she is entertaining Ducky.

Gran also bought an early gift for Sophie - it is a fairy treehouse - she loves it. There is a wee baby, a fairy doorbell and a chute - everything a girl could ask for.

Her nursery learning journal continues to be very informative indeed - if you would like to log into it and see for yourself then send me a message and I will get you some log in details for it. Here is Sophie playing with sand, putting a wee baby to sleep in a pram and then playing with sandfoam.

A wacky week

This week was the first week that Katie was working 4 days which meant the  was on Gran to do an extra day. Who would be most tired Gran, Katie or Sophie? Turns out we  all ended up pretty tired - including me!

Saturday was Niamh's birthday party and we almost missed it - Sophie has had a bit of a cold and yes, you guessed it, has been teething. Both bottoms canines are quite far in and her top ones are just starting.

She still enjoyed the party though - she danced lots with Emily and Niamh,  and she also played a big group game with all the older kids.

The highlight for her though was the kitchen trolley and all the kids piling into it. Sophie pushed them round (with a bit of help)

Friday night Uncle Paul came over and we gave Sophie her dinner, played and put her to bed. She loved the company. She also gave uncle Paul a big hug before bed. Unfortunately we were all so busy we forgot to take photos.

On Saturday morning Sophie slept for two hours that's why we were late for the party - this was due in part to Sophie feeling yukky and partly due to her being knackered after Dad turned the living room into a soft play centre using the cushions from the couches. Unfortunately we have now probably created a situation where the cushions will never be allowed to stay on.

As u can also see from the photos the barber seems to have cut almost all my hair off.

Sunday was less busy although the girls went to the shops and dad did some diy.

Sophie has added some new words to her collection - roll, stop and Pamela (Pam a) who is her key worker at nursery. She has also taken to lying down on her front in the hath and swimming.

Learning journal

Sophie has a pretty awesome learning journal online from the nursery - I won't be able to link everything in to this blog but I can download photos from it - so here are some of them so far...

Messy Monster goes shopping

Yes, guess what - it has been a busy week AND Sophie has been teething again. The good news is that  it looks like 2 of her 4 canines are through but it has meant sleepless nights and unsettled dinners/daytimes.

The other bit of good news is that Sophie is still able to have lots of fun and this week she was back at messy monsters.

And Sophie had some friends round the house the other day and Alexander was keen to give her a hand to make the tea in her wee kitchen.

We went shopping for the first time in ages to a big shopping centre today and Sophie was non-stop racing around - into absolutely everything - she is quite the personality at times.

Next week Katie is back working 4 days in the week instead of 3 so we expect to be a bit tired next week - here's hoping that Sophie sleeps better this week and all the teeth come through without a fuss - ehm, aye right as if that will happen.
