Easter holidays

Well it's always good when a Teacher feels like the naughty student who hasn't done his homework - until the naughty teacher realises that he is back to work tomorrow and he has multiple things he should have done but he hasn't managed to. All in all I have had a great holiday actually - achieved lots of things I wanted to achieve and got to spend some amazing time with my wonderful family.

But here I am procrastinating the other stuff by doing the blog because I didn't get around to it last week - but I do love remembering what has been going on so here goes (some of it will be in the wrong order I can guarantee that)

After our amazing wee trip to Campbeltown to see Gran Hilary and Alisdhair we returned to Glasgow full of things we wanted to do.When Sophie returned from this visit she told me in great excitement - "i actually did Science." She is amazing.

Dad decided that the one day of the week that he would have both children for the full day he would give Gran the day off and take the kids on the most amazing adventures. What really happened was that I had amazing ideas of what to do on a sunny summers day and I asked my Mum along as a treat for her and the kids - in reality I dragged her around a zoo in the snow and then a freezing cold farm park. Sorry Mum! And yes, it was a really good big help that you were there.

We got to see Lions and Bears though and wee tiny baby meerkats...........

We rode on a horse.......

Gran's finger jumped into the photograph - probably because she was wearing gloves and shivering so much because  i told her not to wear her walking shoes as the weather was going to be great (in fairness the weather at home was good).

Lauchlan loves the cuddles as usual......

Sophie and Lauchlan were less than excited about this photo opportunity......

When the playpark finally thawed out we were able to get a wee play in the zoo's great wee playpark.

We loved jumping in an out the old caravans and stuff.......

And when we got home we chilled out and wondered what to do with Lauchlan's hair......

We saw extended family - here are cousins David, Emma and Scott.

We finally got a catch up with Auntie Andrea and Uncle Ewen, cousins Emily and Niamh.

Alisdhair brought Gran's old bike up for Mum - Gran and Alisdhair have taken up motorcycling - not quite Hells Angels - it's electric motors - but watch out down Kintyre way for two cyclists with gin and tonic in their bottle holders. Gin and Tonic are cats and Lauchlan LOVES them big time.

Lauchlan has upped his game with everything - he can now pretty much say anything - his favourite current words are Why, Cat, Back (as in out the back), carry, Gran, Grandad, Sophie (this is very very new), cow, sheep - I am so impressed with his language skills, and I credit his sister greatly for this - she had no-one to copy and she was lightning quick, I think Lauchlan's words have come a bit later than Sophie's but when they have arrived they have all come at once.

Sophie stacks the books and is impressed that haven't fallen over.....there are sooooo many!

Lachlan bypasses horseriding and moves straight to elephants......

Sophie continues to impress us with her drawing - she is still loving nursery - it's only a year or so before she is getting ready for school - how scary is that!!!!!??????

Lauchlan and Sophie have both shown talent at art......

Sophie loves a milkshake though..............especially when she gets Mummy time on a Saturday after dance class.

Our great friends Alan and Pam gave us their bike trailer many moons ago when they moved down south and we haven't made much use of it - a dry day and a long sleep by Lauchlan allowed Dad to get the bikes oiled and cleaned up in preparation for a wee burl around. the kids absolutely loved it......

We also got to spend some time with the amazing wee Arthur - already bilingual and absolutely brilliant......

for Dad's second amazing day out I took the kids to my work which worked out really well - the kids had some weetabix then did a poo and we played with some footballs and cones. Lauchlan wasn't able to do my job either.....

Once we left my work we picked up Gran again and took her to the coldest farm park we could think of.

You may remember a very similar photo of Sophie but she was wearing a T-shirt not a wooly hat.

To finish the holidays off in style we went to a cycle class and then met up with Uncle Paul, Auntie Nicole and wee amazing Arthur. The eagle eyed viewers may recognise the background as the place that Mummy and Daddy once met way back in 1999.

That's all folks - hope I have managed to make up for the lack of holiday blog until now - the kids are amazing, my life is amazing and I am a very very lucky boy.

Happy Easter!

Ok - sorry Aunt Joyce (and everyone else) it's always a rush at the end of term and this term has been no exception - parents evenings, deadlines, nights out - it's a rush. But now I am on holiday and we are back from a short break normal service should be resumed - wait.....forgetting to do the blog intermittently seems to be normal service!

Here are the latest happenings from our wee mad family................

Lauchlan has a fondness for the garden - regardless of the weather he wants to stay outside rather than go in the house - that's all great until we have to go in and then he lets us know all about what he thinks.

He was in his element however climbing in the park with Gran Hilary.

Sophie loved it too - although Lauchlan seems to have stolen her puddle suit.

Gran's visit was very timely what with Dad heading down to Bristol to catch up with some old friends and when Dad returned and finished work for the holidays we decided to head down to see Gran Hilary in Cbltown.

It's a long drive normally but Easter traffic and roadworks meant some serious delays.

I can see some more roadworks!

Anyone want a Smoothie?

So we stopped off for a play and a bite to eat at the Marine Bistro - how very exciting.

When we got to Gran's time was short and we visited lots of people and places - there was great excitement however picking daffodils for Auntie Margaret.

There was also great excitement visiting the horses down in Carradale - we saw baby Amber again but unfortunately Dad had no wellies and couldn't get close enough for a photo - apparently Lauchlan loved seeing the horses.

We dined out in style at a local hotel last decorated in 1963.

Sophie stuffed the biggest burger in her mouth but still had room for an ice cream cone - well, it was a holiday after all!

Lauchlan fell in love with the cats, he loved saying 'cats' and looking for cats was his favourite thing. Now Gran's cats aren't your typical cats - they live outside and aren't all purry and warm. They are stone cold tough cats who know what and who they like and what and who they don't. They didn't mind Lauchlan shouting after them constantly but they didn't exactly say hello. Lauchlan didn't care.

Being Easter Gran Hilary had also enlisted the help of the Easter bunny to put on an egg hunt around her house - it went down very well although Lauchlan just wanted to see the cats. He will learn one day ;o)

On the way home we stopped by Bayview as Katie's relatives had booked it out - it was nice to see the place and what the new owners have done with it.They had even found some old signs from Hilary's fish business.

Lauchlan took a shine to Sophie's easter bonnet and waved everyone goodbye as we left. Because of the traffic on the way down we though we would take the opportunity for a change and we decided to go via ferry on the way home . This caused great excitement and was actually a really good idea - Sophie and Dad even saw a dolphin (or porpoise or monster).

Sophie got star of the week in her nursery last week - she is such  wee star every week who is also an amazing big sister to a very lucky wee brother.

Spring is in the air.....no, wait, it's actually more snow, pants!

Very few words this week - Sophie and Lauchlan have had another busy week as have Mum and Dad!

Sophie had a play date with friends

So did Lauchlan

There was also a visit to Mugdock Park - a staple for entertainment.

More playdate photos just slightly
out of order!

Then a wee visit to scrub the decks of a pirate ship - if only they cleaned this enthusiastically at home ;o)

Only two weeks to go until Easter holidays where we will be hoping to get a lot of stuff done and plenty of pictures to go with it.
