A short one this week
We continue to have lots of fun and one or two sleep problems that make us forget what day of the week it is - I am back at work and Gran was on Jury Duty instead of Grandchildren duty so Gran, Mum, Dad and children are all exhausted!
Everyone is happy though and doing really well - last week was a really big week- Lauchlan started his nursery place. He had some settling in days, the first didn't go great as he was so tired. the second one he loved so fingers crossed for this week when he is in again settling in.
Sophie started a new playgroup (on top of her nursery places in preparation for Mum going back to work) - we thought it sounded like something new that she would enjoy and she did. She even told Mum to leave as she was having a good time.
We have a week to go to Lauchlan's first birthday - it is quite incredible to imagine it has been a year. This time last year we were hanging about waiting for it to happen any day - now Lauchlan is a walking machine who is tearing the house apart and asserting himself on us whilst we desperately assert ourselves back. He is a great kid and full of smiles and laughs - he can now say shoes, cheese, ssssh (with the finger to the mouth), can do head, shoulders, eyes, ears and mouth, he also can say Gran, he loves animals and gets excited by In the Night Garden ;o
Sophie is still loving playing Mummies with her baby and her high heels. She wears lipstick and nail varnish - she is very much a wee girl and enjoys these girl moments with Mum.
Although it is Lauchlan's birthday next week we had a visit this weekend from Uncle Ronnie and Aunt Joyce who are going on holiday and wanted to come and see everyone and drop off their presents. Lauchlan loves his presents and when he can get a few minutes (when Sophie isn't in the room) he gets a chance to play with his digger. thanks for the presents and have a brilliant holiday - we will try and get over and meet your new cat when you get back!!

End of the holidays
The last few posts have been a bit late and pretty light on the words but I am sure you would rather we were out doing stuff than sitting here writing regularly about doing nothing.
The summer holidays have been and gone and I started work again on Friday. It has been a really good summer of spending time with the family and being able to see the kids progress so much. Lauchlan is tearing the house apart and walking everywhere these days. He is incredibly funny and loves a laugh - Sophie is also incredibly funny but enjoys spending her time role playing babies Mums and Dads. She also has taken to wearing Katie's high heels most of the time and remarkably not falling over.
We have been growing vegetables this summer and last week I think some animals had been in at the carrots so we got a bit impatient and lifted some (and ate them for dinner) we also lifted some potatoes from our growing bags. I think given the size of the harvest we will leave the other bag for another few weeks.
Lauchlan attended a birthday party this week and met Mickey Mouse - he had a great time. He is full of energy and full of fun. Loves new things, loves seeing animals (like Sophie did) and loves going up and chatting to people.
Whilst Katie and Lauchlan were partying, Sophie and I were going to climb a mountain (Sophie has been talking about this all summer after she watched a programme where a girl and her Daddy climbed Arthurs Seat and ate their sandwhiches before they reached the top). After a lot of thinking about the most appropriate place to go I figured we could start with Dumbarton Castle - it's high up, great views, it's a castle and if it all goes wrong then at least we can be down in 5 minutes and head home.
If you have never been I would recommend it although its a lot of steps and some parts of it are very steep . The top at the flagpole is pretty exposed and it gets quite windy up there. Sophie and I enjoyed it but we didn't hang about - got to the top for snacks and discussed cannons before she wanted back down to go swimming, which we did. a busy afternoon.
I had a couple of nights out planned this weekend that I was very grateful to Katie for agreeing that it was ok for me to attend - it meant that Katie did all the put to beds which is getting easier and maybe soon I can pay Katie back.
These were the progress photos that Katie sent me during the evening - and sum up both kids at the moment perfectly.
