Well folks, can you actually believe it's been 365 days exactly since we left sunny Glasgow behind and headed for Thailand, Australia and then onto New Zealand?
Nope, nor can we - and I really think that working has made at least the last 8 of those months disappear way too fast. Flippin' work!
Anyway, in case anyone is really losing sleep with worry about whether we will ever return or not - we'd like to put your mind at rest and say that we are definitely still only visiting NZ and not settling.
To prove this we are moving out of our great flat this weekend and moving house for 3 months to another flat elsewhere in Wellington (pictures to follow). I think we are trying to move as often as possible so that we don't feel settled (or so we get the best deals possible!) And it is definitely working ;o) We have actually lived in 6 different houses in Wellington since arriving in December 08. Couple of drifters that we are!
This is also as good a time as any to say that even though we are having a great time over here and it is everything we wanted it to be - we both miss home lots and we think about our friends and family every single day. We can't wait to see you all again and I (Steph) for one really miss the streets of Glasgow (crazy I know). Thanks to you all for keeping in touch and helping us out here and there when things go wrong back home that we can't fix it from here. Thanks for all the birthday and Christmas gifts that you have sent - they have all been very much appreciated.
Lastly, an apology (not always a strong finish to a blog entry I know but bare with me here) - sorry for not being in touch with everyone more regularly via the telephone and emails etc. it doesn't mean we are not thinking about home - it's just that with 6 house moves and various crazy holidays we sometimes don't have the energy to write lots of emails or stay up late to call home.

Ooooo I'm the first to comment! I can't beeeeeelieve it's been over a year since your farewell party! Mental. Congrats Steph on your karate - v. cool indeed! Any idea how much longer you'll be in NZ? I MIGHT be in Welly in March. Good luck with the house move peeps! Gammin xxx

ReplyDeleteGlad to know that things are going well despite the busy workload and congats on the yellow belt mate. So, have you got a specific date for returning home?
I still haven't came across a decent snooker buddy since you left mate, but I might need to let you win next time I play you as you'll be a black belt by then!
A quick bit of news from me- I got a job as a lecturer in Centrl College after being paid off by the Trust I was with. Good Times indeed. Anyway, I look forward to your return hpoefully in the near future but take care for now.
