Nursery updates and half term handstands.

It has been sometime since I looked at the learning journals for Sophie and I must admit to never having looked at Lauchlan's - bad Dad.

With Sophie now changing nursery I thought I would go on an extract as many memories as I could - here are the highlights from the most recent months for Sophie and then all of Lauchlan's highlights since he started nursery.

We have also had a pretty busy week, it was half term though and allowed me to get out and about with the kids although this weekend was very low key but spending lots of quality time with the kids this week which was amazing as usual.

Our great friend Lorna was over from France ( you may remember Lorna and Iain from the New Zealand adventures) their son William is a wee star and came to visit also. Lorna is also gluten free so is kindred spirit.

I have some more work to do for University and  it is strange being back in the Uni library so soon after my first assignment for my course almost destroyed me - part of me likes late night at the library  - the only time i get to read to be honest!

February break - No break from teething or wakening up

Two weeks in a row for the blog - hooray for us and hooray from Auntie Joyce hopefully! There really isn't a whole lot to report however.

The news could be summarised into a quick wee one sentence/phrase - it is business as usual around here. Lauchlan is teething although he is also being treated for a chesty cough - Sophie is doing really well and enjoying her dance, gymnastics and swimming. Katie and I still don't get a huge amount of unbroken sleep but are starting to hope that the light at the tunnel that occurred when Sophie was two might just be around the corner for us with Lauchlan.

Lauchlan's words are coming along well - he can now say, Mummy, Daddy, Gran, Grandad, banana, Paul, purple, octopus, Qashqai (seriously!), wiggles, poop, toast, i do it, yeah, yes, no, no and "no" most of the time really. he is very very funny.

Sophie is learning her letters and numbers and if you hold up some fingers she will instantly tell you how many- she is incredible at it. She is also getting better at writing her name. Sophie changes nursery this week - we decided to move her for a variety of reasons but mainly because she was telling us that she was unhappy at her nursery - she is now going to a council nursery with more kids that will be progressing to her primary school which will really work in her favour I think.

So what did the week bring - Sophie and Lauchlan went to the museum with Mum on Friday

Sophie demonstrated her awesome memory once again when we finished a book we hadn't read for ages and said "Dad, you were going to but the sausage inspector." and she was right I had said that - so I went and bought it online that night - she loved that.

Sophie has also really taken to taking pictures - the next two photos were both by her, i was doing handstands because Mum volunteered me to do it at about 8am on Saturday morning.

Sunday was a cold day and we went up to Mugdock park for a day out - it started snowing so we went for hot chocolate and crisps - success all round!

Auntie Joyce

Everyone loves Auntie Joyce, as do I, but unfortunately I keep letting her down - poor Auntie Joyce gets herself down to the local library every week to log in to the computers and surf the internet and one of her favourite things, I believe, is to check the blog. Imagine her disappointment when she sees that I haven't managed to get round to updating the blog. So, sorry to everyone for my tardiness but special apologies to Auntie joyce - noone goes through more to read the blog than she does.

So Auntie Joyce - hope you enjoy this weeks photos and words........

A whirlwhind start to the year sees the month draw to a close with a number of snowy days (as I write, the temperature is once again falling but no snow to speak of). The most frustrating thing about snowy days being a teacher is that you actually have to try and get to school if your school is open - it kind of spoils the magic of the snow when you have to spend two hours with your wheels spinning on the snow before you can actually get to work.

There are up sides of course to the snow and these are of course sledging and snowman building. Sledging looks great I have to say but the photos don't tell the full story to be fair - 20 minutes of protests to leave the house and then 10 minutes into sledging everyone is cold and wants to go home.

Sophie and her next door neighbours built a contender for the tallest snowman in Scotland - Sophie loved hanging out with the girls.

Meanwhile Saturday's at the moment are Daddy and Lauchlan days - Sophie and Mummy get to go to swimming and dancing but Lauchlan and Daddy went to the science centre - it was a great day out.

Sophie and Lauchlan are good friends - they annoy each other as most siblings do sometimes but they love to cuddle each other and are playing with each other more and more.

We went to a really popular soft play in Glasgow recently and as you may expect the food isn't exactly the healthiest - the kids loved the hotdogs though. and yes, Lauchlan ate all of his - he has also tonight polished off a sunday roast.

Sophie has been gettig more and more into her drawing - this week she drew an aeroplane - I drew the rubbish wee car at the bottom.

And with a bit of assistance for the last two letters she was able to write her own name which was amazing.

Sophie and Lauchlan also loved to see their cousin Arthur this week - the wee fella has grown amazingly fast  - and he loved seeing his big cousins.

Sophie and Lauchlan had their friends Lucy and Matty round this week and they all had fun making "top-hats" from marshmallows, chocolate and smarties. they had even more fun eating them.

We saw Arthur again at Gran and Grandad's on Saturday (where I saw Auntie Joyce among other family members!) Here is Arthur with Auntie Karen.

Sophie's room has turned into a bit of a party room after bathtime these days - star lights on, bouncing on the bed and singing at the top of their voices. Good times.

before Christmas Sophie wasn't really enjoying her nursery - we were a bit worried about this and scoped out some other nurseries - as it happens we have gotten her into a nursery that she might enjoy twenty times as much and she will be making some new friends who may end up going to primary school with her. only problem now is going to be coordinating two different nurseries for a while!

In other news we have booked a holiday to a eurocamp in France - we haven't had a proper holiday for sometime - the kids will absolutely love it and so we will we. That post will be a belter Auntie Joyce!!!!!!
