Just flew in from Hervey Bay after a number of days both there and on Fraser Island. Fraser Island is the biggest sand island in the world and is a world heritage site. It is also the scene of many a baby snatching by pesky dingos ;o)

Our set of wheels for our tour..... A big boat that was wrecked on Fraser Island, built on the River Clyde.

Dingo watch 4am

Dingo Tracks! Danger for small children.
We finally saw a dingo who casually walked up right in front of us.
We had a great time up there (it's up the coast from Sydney - about a 1 and a half hour flight) and the tour of Fraser island was great. Just being driven about in a big 4x4 all day with a group of about 14 folk. We were tempted not to do the tour and just hire a car ourselves but after seeing so many people stuck in the sand we were kind of pleased we forked out for the tour.
So we are sitting side by side at a wee internet stop in Sydney airport just trying to catch up with emails and other admin stuff - still so much to do even though we are so far away. I got an email from Glasgow City Council the other day - I didn't realise they were missing me so much - then I realised it was just a council tax enquiry- get this, they want to give me money! Can you believe it?
Our flight to Perth tonight is at 8.20pm Sydney time and we get into Perth at 11.55pm WA time. I don't even know what the time difference is but i think it might be 4 hours so we have a long flight ahead of us - Australia is a big old place.
Our camper van is all booked now for Perth and if you want to see what we will be driving about in then google "travellers auto barn" and look for the Chubby van and that's what we will be in for three weeks as of the 30th Oct. We are already planning a Halloween party in it. ;o)
In Perth we are also hoping to visit one of Katie's friends which will be nice, we should get loads of photos from that too and will post them as we go.
There are new photos on flickr already if you want to have a look - plenty from Fraser island and one or two ones left over from Sydney. Remember if you sign up to flickr (for free) you can comment on the photos too.
Will post more from Perth - hopefully have more time to fill you in on some funny stories/crazy characters from the travels.
all the best to everyone,
SB
The weather here has deteriorated and your blog really highlights the contrast. Oh well, back to work now (after drying out some clothes).

The photos from Sydney and Fraser Island look amazing. We have just had the mother of all hail/rain storms and I seriously doubt I'll make it to the theatre on time for the show tonight. Sigh. Can I come and stay at your tent?

Hey gorgeous guys,
ReplyDeleteStill cannae believe you bumped into the midget in Manly! Mental! Following your blog and sounds like you're having a proper fantastic time! All grand here except for the old 3-0 earlier this month...grim. Other than that it's turned into an Indian summer in Glasgow, Brad Pitt just asked me to marry him and Mother Gannon just got elected PM. Crazy times! Take care of eachother mo-fo's.
