It was a slow rumble growing to a bit of a crescendo with the whole house shaking and rattling. Very weird. I imagine that if your house was lifted up by a giant forklift truck and dropped from an inch off the floor it might be similar to the main part of it.
I couldn't get back to sleep so I also caught the after shock that was 4.3 about an hour and a half later. More of these to follow apparently.
Makes you feel very strange - I'm not scared by it but it does make you feel uncomfortable.
